Welcome to this law firm’s blog!
I am thrilled to embark on this journey of knowledge-sharing and exploration with you, where we will delve into a wide range of topics that touch upon the law’s impact on history, its intersection with society and culture, and practical insights for small businesses and nonprofits.
My aim is to provide valuable information and thought-provoking discussions that cater to a diverse audience. A few house-keeping matters are important. First, I am licensed as an attorney in North Carolina, and I am respectful of the jurisdictional limitations on my license. The laws where you are may (and likely are) different. Second, nothing in a blog post should be considered or construed as legal advice. You should always confer with a lawyer in your jurisdiction on any legal matter or question. Third, no attorney-client relationship is created by reading this blog or the website as a whole. If you wish to hire my firm, please feel free to contact me and we can have a conversation about next steps. I am selective in what cases I undertake, and thankful to have the ability to be such. Fourth, given my past as a judicial officer, if you did not like a decision I made (or another judge made that I supervised), this probably isn’t the right blog for you. There are plenty of other opportunities out there and you should explore those for your reading pleasure. When I issued orders or decisions in cases, I did my best based upon the facts and evidence before me and what the law required. Moreover, in deciding cases on a three-person panel as I often did, decisions are made based upon a majority vote. Fifth, I want this blog to be written in an engaging style and will endeavor to do my best on that front. Occasionally, I may backslide and write like someone deciding a case on the merits. I ask for grace when I do so. Now that those things are out there, let’s get started!
Throughout this blog, we will uncover together the rich tapestry of history woven into the fabric of the law. From landmark court cases that have shaped legal precedents to pivotal moments in legal history, we will explore how the law has evolved and influenced society over time. By understanding the historical context, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the legal principles that guide us today.
Law is not an isolated forum; it intersects with various aspects of society and culture. Together, we will examine how the law impacts social issues, shapes cultural norms, and influences public opinion. From discussions on civil rights and constitutional law to the legal implications of emerging technologies, I aim to shed light on the dynamic relationship between the law and the world we live in.
As an attorney, small business owner, and entrepreneur, I understand the unique challenges faced by small businesses and nonprofits. I will endeavor to provide practical insights tailored to these entities. From legal considerations when starting a business or nonprofit to navigating contracts, intellectual property, and employment law, my aim is to empower entrepreneurs and organizations with the knowledge they need to thrive.
I invite you to join me on this knowledge-sharing journey as we explore the multifaceted world of the law. In the near future, you can expect several blog series covering a wide range of topics, ensuring there is something for everyone. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a legal scholar, a small business owner, or a nonprofit professional, I will aim to provide valuable insights and practical guidance that can inform and inspire. I believe that by understanding the law’s historical significance and its practical applications, our society can better navigate the complexities of the legal landscape with confidence. Stay tuned for upcoming blog posts as we embark on this exciting journey of knowledge-sharing and exploration!
All the best,
Charlton
